Heidi’s artistic work encompasses the many insights and themes created by her life – many doors leading to “otherness” – places, thoughts, perspectives, awareness, times, opportunities, losses, lives, meanings. Her early interest in architecture and sculpture complemented her artistic development in later years. Each year, she explores something new through either subject matter or technique.
Her created sculptures step off of the canvas and into their own space. Heidi incorporates wood, clay, metal, and many animal parts such as horns or antlers in her pieces. They express the tactile nature of her work and the aesthetic quality of natural materials.
“The space between two lines, the pause between two notes, the place where reality touches illusion, this is the place where I paint, sculpt, seek to become an artist.”
